INTERDEPENDENCE DAYS:

INTERDEPENDENCE DAY III - Paris, 2005

Bertrand Delanoë & Benjamin Barber

From September 10-12, 2005, in Paris the Third Interdependence Day brought together hundreds of students, politicians, artists and intellectuals from two dozen countries in three major events: an international NGO conference chaired by Bernard Kouchner and Lord Frank Judd at The American University of Paris; an artists' roundtable and concert chaired by former Minister of Culture Jack Lang at the Opera Bastille, keynoted by U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich; and a signing ceremony for the Declaration of Interdependence at the Hôtel De Ville (Paris City Hall) featuring Harry Belafonte, Mayor Bertrand Delanoë, former Minister of Finance Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former President of Slovenia Milan Kučan, former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard and many others.

Interdependence ceremonies were held in several other venues and nations, notably a major celebration at Penn State University in the USA.
